Monkeybusiness with a movie star and childhood hero

In case you were wondering whether I really am working in a public library, I'm attaching a photo to provide proof.

Yes, Curious George, hero of the books of my childhood, and star of the movie currently in theatres, visited MPOW and did a storytime today. After the story, he posed for pics w/ all of his adoring fans, (most of whom were measurably under 3 feet tall) and signed autographs. However, all of us on staff, most of whom remembered him from his print-only days, before his big-screen debut, wanted pics too.

We must have had 60 people, at least, for the program. The ripple effect of the busy-ness was that we actually had to kick people out of the library at 5:05, when closing time was 5:00.

Roxy *really* likes the SDCL book bag I was given as swag at Library Academy.

Back to the '40s in Round Bay, Severna Park, MD

From top:

My grandmother sitting on front patio

My dad and mom on living room sofa--this one is reversed, I think.

My grandfather standing in front yard. Mom's "playhouse" is on left amidst shrubbery. The front patio is semi-hidden behind the shrubs in front of the house.

More family pics

My mother and father on their wedding day, January 29, 1947, outside St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, College Park, MD.

Oh, say can you see....

Roxy and Sugar watching the birds who duck in and out of the eaves....

Catbed scanner

Sugar (rear) and Roxy perched on the window seat, err, flatbed scanner, err, make that catbed scanner, surveying the birds and beasts in the parking lot
