I went to the beach for a few hours late this afternoon. Sat on the sand on a beach towel, dressed in jeans, sandals, and a t-shirt, and enjoyed the sight and sound of the surf. And yes, it's January 10. I'm not missing Minnesota in the slightest, weather-wise!

St. Paul's Cathedral (Episcopal), San Diego - Front Page/index
This is where I usually worship on Sundays, though sometimes I've gone to
All Souls', Point Loma

The latest addition to my running tally of odd items blocking traffic on the highways...
The Monday before Christmas one freeway was blocked by a mattress and box spring being dropped on it. Another less major road was blocked in two places--once by a herd of sheep and once by some cows.

Well, I guess it's been a while since I've posted, eh?
I have a job.
I have an apartment, as you can see in the immediately preceding post.

The job is as an entry-level legal assistant with a medium-sized corporate law firm in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego, which is in between La Jolla and Del Mar. Hilding Kipnis Lyon & Kelly. It pays the bills, with some considerable help from my income from my Md rental property. Most of the folks are pretty nice. Some of them are more challenging. When I've told some friends about some of the intra-office dynamics and dramas, they've suggested I submit it as a screenplay for Law & Order or something similar. The photocopier and the fax machine and the racks of files are my friends.

The apartment is in Del Mar, according to my postal address, though technically I'm in the city of San Diego rather than the city of Del Mar. It's a very nice 1BR with a big balcony. It's "West of The 5" which I understand makes it a very impressive address, even if I have to eat Ramen noodles to afford the rent. (Ramen noodles are 5/$1 at the regular grocery store; I understand they can be had for half that if you shop around. Which means that they haven't increased in price markedly since the last time I worked for really pathetic wages and ate a lot of them, which was almost 14 years ago. Who knew that Ramen noodles were inflation-proof?) It's maybe 1-2 miles from the beach. I think that is very cool and can't wait til it's light in the evenings again and I can go walk on the beach to unwind after work.

This is my apartment complex. I have the 1BR floor plan.
