Beaches
Went to the beach to watch the sun set this evening. Sunsets out here are very different from anywhere else I've lived. The sunbecomes a huge red-orange ball that sets so fast that it almost seems to be plunging into the sea. It appears to set much faster than it did when I lived other places. Watching it disappear at the edge of the ocean you can understand how folks used to think the earth was flat and you could easily sail off the edge.
One big difference since the last time I spent any significant amount of time at the beach--which was 10+ years ago--is the proliferation of cell phones. Now everyone at the beach has their cell with them and folks chatting away is a common occurence. So much for going to the beach to get away from everything!
